A Heartfelt Bond That Reaches All Around The World
Pazartesi, Aralık 30, 2024Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) continued its activities in 2024 all over the world toward Turkish citizens living in many parts of the world, especially in Europe, kin and related communities with whom we have historical ties, and international students who continue their education in our country to meet all of these group’s social, cultural, legal, economic and political needs.
YTB also did not remain silent about the massacres carried out by Israel before the eyes of the whole world, and drew attention to Türkiye's struggle at every opportunity. Some of the projects carried out by YTB in 2024 stood out.
ACTIVITIES CONTINUED IN ACCORDANCE WITH OUR CITIZENS' REQUESTS AND EXPECTATIONS
Many new projects are implemented every year with the mission of supporting our citizens, who maintain strong legal, social and economic relations with Türkiye, both in the countries they live in and in Türkiye, and to maintain the ties of our diaspora with the homeland at the highest level. With this motto, activities continued in 2024 in line with the wishes and expectations of our citizens.
Young People of the Turkish World Met and Connected at Teknofest
Drawing attention to inter-diaspora cooperation at every opportunity, YTB broke new ground at TEKNOFEST Adana this year. Young engineer candidates, who continued their education in Europe and participated in TEKNOFEST with the support of YTB, met with young people from the diasporas of the member states within the scope of the 2nd Diaspora Youth Forum of the Organization of Turkish States.
Sarıkamış Martyrs Commemoration Program
Within the scope of the YTB’s "Let's Go to Sarıkamış" project, a cultural trip was organized to the cities of Erzurum and Kars with 30 young Turks coming from abroad between 4-7 January 2024, and they participated in the Sarıkamış Martyrs Commemoration Program.
Türkiye Internships Program
"Türkiye Internships Program" was organized between 10 July and 3 September 2024, with the cooperation of YTB, TUSAŞ, ROKETSAN and HAVELSAN, with the participation of 68 interns.
Technology and Competence Meetings
"Technology and Competence Meetings" program was held by YTB and the Secretariat of Defence Industries in cooperation with TUSAŞ, ASELSAN, HAVELSAN, ROKETSAN, TEI, EHSIM and KOLUMAN companies in Cologne and Munich, Germany, on 23-24 November 2024.
Fuat Sezgin Commemoration Program on the 100th Anniversary of His Birth
A commemoration program was organized in Frankfurt on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Islamic science historian Prof. Fuat Sezgin's birth. The program was carried out jointly with the Fuat Sezgin Islamic Science History Research Foundation (İBTAV) and was completed with the participation of approximately 250 people, consisting of NGO representatives in the region.
Hanau Commemoration Events
A commemoration program was organized at YTB’s building to commemorate the 4th anniversary of the racist Hanau attack. In addition to the Ambassador-Undersecretary of the German Embassy, many deputies from the Turkish Grand National Assembly representing our diaspora, representatives from stakeholder institutions and academicians attended the program.
Family Scholars Meeting
A mentoring training was organized in Frankfurt, Germany, on 15-17 November 2024, to support the education process of our scholars who were awarded scholarships within the scope of our Presidency's Family and Social Services Scholarship Program.
Turks Abroad Youth Camps
Turks Abroad Youth Camps were held in 4 different groups, separately for girls and boys, in Istanbul and Rize. A total of 400 young people participated in all camps in 2024.
Swedish Family Education Seminars Project
Swedish Family Education Seminars Project was implemented by YTB and Stockholm Turkish Embassy Education Counselor in the context of the problems and needs that our citizens are thought to be experiencing.
2024 Welcoming-Farewell Activities
The welcoming and farewell activities, which has been carried out at Edirne Kapıkule Border Gate and Serbia Border Gate since 2018, continued in 2024.
California Turkish Festival
A festival was organized in the state of California, United States of America by the Turkish American Association of Southern California (ATA-SC) with the support of YTB.
Gala Programs for the 60th Anniversary of Immigration to Belgium, the Netherlands and Austria
On the 60th anniversary of the labor agreements signed with Belgium, the Netherlands and Austria, gala programs and receptions were held in the relevant countries.
60th Anniversary for the Sake of Coffee
The 60th Anniversary event for the Sake of Coffee was organized jointly with YTB and Vienna Yunus Emre Institute. As part of the event, a Turkish coffee stand was opened in the touristic city center of Vienna and served with Turkish delight to Viennese residents and tourists.
Young People Stand as One in Türkiye – Georgia Match
Within the framework of YTB and TFF cooperation for EURO24, young people in Europe watched the Türkiye - Georgia match at the stadium.
Rights Journal 2023
As of 2020, YTB has been publishing the “Citizen Abroad’s Rights and Freedoms Journal" in Turkish and English, which includes administrative and legal developments regarding rights and freedoms in the countries where our citizens abroad live densely. In the 2023 report prepared in this context, a total of 277 developments were recorded, 71 in Germany, 52 in France and 25 in the Netherlands. In this year's developments, the categories of freedom of religion and conscience, prohibition of racism/discrimination and equality before the law came to the fore.
Attack Report 2023
Since 2018, YTB has been recording hate attacks targeting our citizens living abroad, their mosques and associations, and bringing them to the attention of the international public. The report is published in Turkish, English, German and French under the title "Attacks Targeting Turkish Presence Abroad". In the report prepared in 2023, 494 cases were recorded in 28 countries, including 156 in Germany, 57 in France and 49 in Denmark. In this year's report, hate speech/threats, attacks on mosques, attacks on individuals and provocations against the Holy Quran came to the fore.
HUNDREDS OF PROJECTS IN COGNATE GEOGRAPHIES
YTB carries out hundreds of activities every year in order to develop relations with kin and related communities that have deep historical, religious, political, geographical and cultural ties with our country. Türkiye's foreign policy, which prioritizes peaceful and international development, is based on our work towards countries, regions and societies with which we have a deep-rooted history.
Finnish Tatars Book Promotion Program and Photography Exhibition
The promotional program of the book "Finnish Tatars" published by YTB on the 100th anniversary of Türkiye-Finland diplomatic relations and the opening of the exhibition consisting of book photographs were hosted by YTB and attended by Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy.
"Guide to Ottoman Architecture in Hungary" Book
The book titled "Guide to Ottoman Architecture in Hungary", which was prepared on the occasion of the 2024 Turkish-Hungarian Culture Year and consists of general information and photographs of the Ottoman works that have survived to the present day in Hungary, was published as a YTB publication.
The Book “Budin Guide Prepared for Sultan Abdulaziz Khan” was Published
The Guide, was prepared for Sultan Abdülaziz Khan's trip to Budapest in 1867 and published in German as a YTB publication which is enriched with photographs and explanations, along with Turkish and Hungarian translations.
Commemoration Program for the 80th Anniversary of the 1944 Crimean Tatar Exile
"Commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Crimean Tatar Exile and Opening Program of the Crimean Tatar Youth Workshop", hosted by YTB and organized in cooperation with the Crimean Turks Culture and Solidarity Association, was held in Ankara.
Organization of Turkish States (TDT) 2nd Diaspora Youth Forum
The first TDT Diaspora Youth Forum was held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, between 25 and 28 September 2024. 2nd TDT Diaspora Youth Forum was held in Ankara and Adana, hosted by YTB, between 1 and 6 October 2024.
Bulgaria International Summer School 2024 Project
Within the scope of the project carried out in cooperation with the Grand Mufti of the Religious Affairs of Muslims of the Republic of Bulgaria, a summer camp was organized for approximately 600 secondary school students between the ages of 12-15 in Bulgaria's Mestanlı, Shumen and Ruse theological high schools between 21 June and 29 July 2024.
Symposium Discussing the Effects of Migration on the 35th Anniversary of the Forced Migration from Bulgaria
With the support of YTB, the Balkan Immigrants Culture and Solidarity Association (Bal-Göç) organized a meeting in Bursa between 11-13 December 2024, on the 35th anniversary of the 1989 forced migration from Bulgaria to Türkiye, where the effects of migration were discussed with the participation of experts and academics on the subject. The symposium program was organized.???
Balkan Youth School (BGO)
Within the scope of BGO, seminars were given on sociology, history, culture, international relations, international law, health sciences and Turkish to the young people living in Balkan countries. Within the framework of the program, tour programs were organized to various provinces of Türkiye.
Publication and Promotion Program of the Book “Ottoman Istimâlet Politics and Bosnia: XV and XVI Centuries”
The book, written by Sedad Beslija, was translated in Turkish with the support of YTB and published in May 2024. The launch program of the book was held at the University of Sarajevo on September 6, 2024.
“The Turkish Monuments Converted into Churches” Book Promotion Program
The launch program of the book “The Turkish Monuments Converted into Churches”, published in 3 volumes, was held on September 5, 2024, hosted by the Gazi Hüsrev Bey Madrasa Library in Sarajevo.
Periodicals in the Balkans: The Adventure of Islamic Thought 1918-1945 Symposium and Academy
In the symposium and exhibition held in Ankara on 4-6 September 2024, researchers studying periodicals published between 1918 and 1945 in North Macedonia, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina participated.
“Migration from the Western Thrace to Türkiye (1967- 1995)” Book
Within the scope of the book published under the editorship of Assoc. Dr. Nilüfer ERDEM and by YTB Publication, the reasons for migration of the cognagtes who migrated to our country from the Western Thrace region of Greece and the difficulties they experienced during and after migration were discussed.
“History Out of the Box: Çanakkale Prisoners in Cyprus” Documentary Production and Screening
The promotional event of the documentary titled "History Out of the Box: Çanakkale Prisoners in Cyprus", prepared with the contributions of YTB, was held in TRNC. The documentary describes the prison camp in Famagusta, where Turkish soldiers captured by the British and their allies during the Gallipoli War were kept, and the efforts of Turkish Cypriots to help the Turk soldiers.
“Cyprus Hymns, the Heart Language of Cyprus” Concert and Book Promotion Event
A promotional event was held in TRNC for the book titled "Cyprus Hymns, the Heart Language of Cyprus", prepared as a YTB publication. As part of the event, a concert was organized by Artist Ahmet Özhan and his team, where the works in the book were performed.
Book Studies on “Cyprus Legends”, “Spiritual Map of Cyprus” and “Cyprus Travel Guide”
The books aim to explain the spiritual, cultural and architectural values of Cyprus to large masses, especially young people, with 3 different works prepared by Prof. İsmail Güleç with the support of YTB.
Africa Yearbook 2023 Promotion Program and Africa's Future Panel
The Africa Yearbook 2023 Promotion Program and the Future of Africa Panel were held at YTB on October 30, 2024. The Africa Yearbook 2023 study, which includes the developments in Africa and Türkiye-Africa relations, was created with the contributions of 11 institutions and organizations and 49 authors. The work was prepared in English for the first time this year.
Turkish Communication Program for Public Officials and Academicians (KATİP)
Within the scope of KATİP 2023-2024 period, a total of 17 participants from 16 different countries, including 6 diplomats, 6 public officials, 1 rector, 2 researchers and 1 police inspector, came to our country and completed their training.
Türkiye Alumni Portal
The portal, where more than 130 thousand Turkish graduates are registered, offers various services for alumni to help them develop their careers, participate in events and easily carry out various transactions.
Türkiye Alumni Associations Capacity Building and Promotion Programs
Türkiye Alumni Associations serve as an important bridge in the promotion and cooperation processes of Türkiye in the international arena. 35 associations in 31 countries hold alumni meetings, allowing alumni to keep their ties with Türkiye strong and continue their cultural and academic interactions.
Research on Ottoman-Southeast Asia Relations
The launch program of the book "Research on Ottoman-Southeast Asia Relations" published under the auspices of YTB Publications was held in Malaysia.
IN 2024 APPROXIMATELY 122,000 APPLICATIONS FROM 171 COUNTRIES
Türkiye Scholarships, the public higher education scholarship program offered by the Republic of Türkiye to international students and carried out under the coordination of YTB, provides equality of opportunity to successful students from all over the world and offers education at international standards.
Within the scope of Türkiye Scholarships Program, approximately 122 thousand applications were received from 171 countries in 2024 at undergraduate, master and PDH levels, and during the selection process of the candidates, interviews were held in a total of 132 countries, 75 face-to-face and 57 online.
2024 International Student Academy
In order to contribute to the development of scholarship students, YTB organizes International Student Academy programs every year. Within the scope of the 2024 International Student Academy, seminar programs, specialization programs and culture and arts programs were carried out in 17 provinces. Certificates were given to 1.686 students who achieved 60 percent attendance in classes.
International Students Stand as One Against Israeli Oppression
“Gaza Panel and Exhibition from the Perspectives of International Students" program was held in Istanbul on October 10, 2024, with the participation of international students who came to our country from all over the world and received university education.
2024 International Student Internship Program
"International Student Internship Program" is implemented every year in order to prepare international students for their career after graduation and to gain experience.
International Students Graduation Ceremony
The graduation ceremony organized for international students studying at universities in our country within the scope of Türkiye Scholarships was held for the 13th time this year. Students experienced the excitement of graduation with ceremonies held separately in Konya, Ankara and Istanbul.
8th International Student Sciences Congress
In order to provide international students studying in our country with the opportunity to transform their approaches, opinions and suggestions regarding the agenda and needs of the global world into academic output, an "International Student Sciences Congress" is organized every year around a specific topic group. The congress was held this year in Gaziantep on November 1, 2024.
2024 International Student Camps
International student camps are organized every year in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports in order to strengthen their ties with Türkiye and support their individual and social development through educational and inclusive activities.
2024 Turcology Summer School Program
This year 189 international students from 14 countries participated in the Turkology Summer School program organized in cooperation with YTB and Ankara University TÖMER.
Digital Culture Platform and YTB Publications
Digital Culture Platform (DİJİKÜP), which started to serve as the new roof of the YTB family, takes you on an intercontinental journey with many contents including news, announcements, culture and arts content, videos, infographics, special files, important portraits, podcasts and magazine categories.
At the same time, books put into service as YTB publications are also available in the digital library in DİJİKÜP. In 2024, 18 books, 3 magazines (10 issues) created with rich content every month, 2 documentaries and author meetings were held. The prepared works met with the readers in the categories of academic publications, educational publications, faith publications, adult fiction literature publications, adult cultural publications, children's and early youth publications.
International Young Writers Met in Istanbul
In order to strengthen the communication of writers of Telve, Bağlar and Her Boydan magazines prepared under the auspices of YTB and to increase the interaction of their writers, "III. International Young Writers Meeting" was held. Media and civil society representatives, academics, consul generals working in Istanbul, young writers from Türkiye and participants from 28 countries attended the program.
Somali and Ethiopian Students Cut a Peace Cake
The Somaliland crisis between Somalia and Ethiopia ended in Ankara under the mediation of Türkiye. The Ankara Declaration was signed between the two countries during the day-long talks, attended personally by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. At our Presidency's Ankara Office, a cake was kept ready for celebration of the peace between Somalia and Ethiopia. International students, mainly from these two countries, studying in our country were gathered on the peace and cooperation reached between Somalia and Ethiopia.
